Boy, that was a great summer. Too much food and that sun lounger was way too comfortable. And yes, your body is now showing the results of those holiday excesses. You have gained a bit of weight and you don't feel happy about it. It’s time to start working out to lose that extra weight!
You can lose whatever you’ve gained! You can lose the weight you gained on holiday fairly quickly and you don't even need to make many changes. You just need to go to the gym for a few extra sessions and be careful about what you eat. Just doing that will go a long way.
What's the best way to lose the weight you’ve gained during your holiday?
Go for a combination of cardio and strength training. Cardio training is good for burning calories, while strength training gives you some extra muscle mass. Building more muscle will enable you to burn more calories. Muscles consume energy even when they are not being used. The fact that your body becomes stronger is also a bonus!
Achievable goals
Set yourself specific (and achievable) goals. Decide what you would like to achieve in the next month and focus on working towards it. In order to continue training, you can agree that you will give yourself a reward if you achieve your goal. Do you have a friend who also wants to lose that extra holiday weight? Go to the gym together and motivate each other. Maybe you can even challenge each other. Who will be the first to achieve their goals?
Watch what you eat
In addition to the extra workout sessions, watch what you eat. Go back to the same diet you had before you went on holiday. Lots of vegetables and smaller portions than you were presumably eating during your holiday. Drink plenty of water! This will help regulate your levels of hydration. It is best not to drink any alcohol. Of course, you can have a drink at the weekend, but try to remember how many calories there are in each glass. Is it worth it? Remember your goal...
Don’t get stressed
Whatever you do, don't get stressed about losing that extra weight you gained on holiday. You want to stay in your relaxed holiday mode as long as possible. It's much harder to lose weight when you're stressed. So remember to relax, start exercising again and eat healthily. You’ll be back in shape in no time!
