Do you want to train more, lose weight, get stronger, feel better about yourself or perhaps something else? Whatever it is, the challenge is to keep working on your resolutions. For many people, their New Year's resolutions don't last longer than a few weeks, when their old habits start to kick in again. Below are three tips to help you stick to your New Year's resolutions!
1. Start working out now Why wait until the New Year?
Get started with your New Year’s resolutions now! By starting to work out before the New Year has even come around, you will help your body get used to your new lifestyle and routine. Then, when January comes around, you'll be well on your way. This means that your New Year’s resolutions won’t be so tough and you’ll be able to stick to them for longer. Another advantage of starting to work out now: the sooner you start, the sooner you'll reach your goal!
2. Train with a gym buddy
You're stronger together. Share your New Year’s resolution with a friend and go for it together. So, work out with your gym buddy, motivate one another and share your results. It helps you maintain your routine, because you won’t want to let the other person down. Your gym buddy can also help you push yourself that bit further. And besides, working out together is a great way to socialise.
3. Reward yourself
If you've been able to stick to your New Year’s resolutions for one, two or maybe even three months, then reward yourself! Think about a reward system for yourself before you start. For example: ‘if I go to the gym twice a week, I can buy those new trousers at the end of the month’. Go out for a meal (or go with your gym buddy), buy yourself that new smartwatch you've been wanting for so long, and if you manage to stick to your New Year’s resolutions for six months, perhaps you could organise a weekend away. And what could be nicer than showing off your perfectly toned body on the beach?
