What do you mean too thin?
That's for me to say!
What Irrini says about it.
Read her story here.
1. What does being fit mean for you?
For me being fit means feeling healthy and looking after yourself, both physically and mentally. That means eating a good diet, doing regular exercise and being kind to yourself. Personally, I do this by cooking with fresh products as much as possible. Another thing I find helps me is, rather than taking public transport, I enjoy running or cycling. I also find meditation very beneficial.
2. Have you ever had any unpleasant comments about your level of fitness or your muscular body?
Now and again someone will say to me that I'm very or too thin. Often it's not meant as a negative comment, someone might say ‘You're so thin, I wish I could eat whatever I wanted and not put on weight!’ While I understand perfectly that not everyone's body works the same, there are times I can't help thinking that not putting on weight however much I eat or exercise is not always so great, because just maybe that is exactly what I want to do.
3. Our campaign is all about body positivity. How do you see this?
I think the body positivity movement is doing something really important. I think it's good to be aware that there are all types of beautiful and healthy bodies and that being fit is not necessarily about how thin, fat, muscular, etc. you are.
4. Which of your goals have you already achieved?
I am well on the way to accepting myself as I am and feeling good in my own body, and I am really pleased about that!
5. What goals do you still want to achieve?
I hope I can maintain the goals I have already achieved. Partly by exercising regularly and making keeping fit a way of life.
6. Who or what motivates you to keep fit?
The thing I find most motivating is keeping why I am doing it in the forefront of my mind. When I think about how good I feel when I'm doing exercise, especially in terms of my mood, it makes me want to get out there!
7. Have you got any tips to inspire others on their fitness journey
Think about why and what you want to achieve through getting fit. If you keep this in mind, you'll always have the motivation to go and work out!
